Roscoe Farmer Obituary

Lance Corporal Roscoe Farmer, Jr., fondly known as "The Captain", peacefully transitioned from life to heaven on May 24, 2021 in Galloway (Columbus), Ohio. He was born July 6, 1948 in Evington, Virginia, and proudly served our country as a Marine Combat Engineer during two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was heavily decorated with military awards, medals, certificates, and ribbons. "Semper Fidelis" - always faithful. He retired as an Ohio Operating Engineer, Local 18, following a 30-year career, and spent his leisure time fishing, traveling, cheering on his favorite NFL team, The Cleveland Browns, and serving as the family's official chef. Roscoe was preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Roslyn Cundiff Farmer Tweedy; step-father Rev. Thomas W. Tweedy; sisters Linda and Janet Farmer. He is survived by his wife Marianne Reid Farmer, married June 14, 1986, and joined the United Methodist Church on their first wedding anniversary. He will also be missed by his sister Sheila Farmer; niece Joy Wright; aunt Mary Cundiff; and a host of other relatives and friends across Ohio, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and Illinois. "The Captain" will be memorialized and interred in beautiful, historically-rich Dayton National Memorial Cemetery in Ohio, with complete military honors including Rifle Salute and Taps during a private ceremonial Service of Remembrance on Monday, June 28, 2021. The family is extremely grateful for every prayer and kindness extended. "Captain, you have been loved."
