Richard Della Pesca
Della Pesca, Richie, age 89, of Prospect Park, passed away on January 22, 2017. He was the son of the late Luigi Della Pesca and wife Carmella (nee Cerviello) Della Pesca. Athletic in his earlier years, he played softball on local teams and was an excellent bowler. He had a passion for fishing. He loved being out on the lake early in the morning and enjoyed spending time teaching his grandsons how to fish. Richie Della Pesca was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Prior to his retirement he worked in the textile industry and was a member of Local 1733 Dyer's Union. Known as "The Clam Man" he was always the star attraction at various golf outings, picnics, private parties and the cocktail hour at The Brownstone. Beloved husband of his wife Joan (nee Kimak) Della Pesca of 50 years. Loving father of Michael Della Pesca and wife Heidi of Highland Lakes, Brian Della Pesca and wife Tracey of Fairlawn, Richard Della Pesca and wife Joann of Clifton, and Glen Della Pesca of Passaic. Adoring grandfather of Jake, Nicholas, Emily, and Matthew. Great grandfather of Owen. Richard is pre-deceased by his 5 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 27, 2017 at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital in Richie's memory. Have many memories of grandpa taking me for Italian ice, breakfast at the Egg Platter, going to see the horses, working at PassPort together but mostly I remember him mauling me and pinching my cheekss...you will be missed!!!
