Aida Renovato Arranaga passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister throughout her life. She was born in Del Rio, Texas on September 26, 1936 to Refugio and Manuela Renovato. She is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Carlos Arranaga, and her daughter, Irma Arranaga Saldivar who passed away at age 46. She is survived by her children, Aida and Sergio Gomez, Carlos and Julie Arranaga, Linda and Hugh Freitas, and her brother Refugio Renovato and wife Oralia. In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren; Sergio Adrian, Fernando Daniel, Anissa Victoria, Michael Manuel, Raul Rene, Rebecca Renee, Kayla Christina, and Cassandra Krystal. She was a loving and caring aunt to numerous nephews and nieces across Texas and California. Aida was a long-time business owner with many real estate holdings. During the 1960s and 1970s, along with her husband Carlos, they owned and operated (3) area restaurants including Mr. A’s Restaurant on 10th and Veterans. She was a big proponent of local business ownership and loved spending time cooking and creating delicious meals for her family and the community. Later in life she often relived stories from those decades, which were filled with family traditions and great friendships, always highlighting the social ambiance that the restaurants provided. One of her favorite past times was her love and passion for sewing. Whether it was creating a garment from scratch or completing an alteration, her unique talent was often admired. During her final years, she enjoyed outings with friends in support of local Bingo Halls, where she loved meeting and catching up with familiar faces. Her beautiful smile and radiant green eyes would brighten any room and her caring demeanor brought warmth to everyone she met. Mrs. Arranaga will be greatly missed by many, her spiritual devotion will live on in her family and close friends, and her memory will be forever cherished. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 5:15 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Gentlemen with the honor of pallbearers: Sergio Gomez, Fernando Gomez, Carlos Arranaga, Michael Arranaga, Hugh Freitas and Victor Renovato; Honorary Pall Bearers: Sergio A. Gomez and Raul Conchas. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special gratitude to Dr. Aurelio Laing, Betty Sarminto, and Lee Ann Brisco who lovingly and tirelessly cared for her through her final years. Your kindness and dedication did not go unnoticed and will forever be appreciated. Arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Home in Del Rio, Texas.
