Bridie M Cunha Middletown, New Jersey Obituary

Bridie M Cunha

Bridie M. Cunha, 80, of Hazlet, NJ, passed away on June 20, 2021 in her home. She was born in Renvyle, Ireland in 1941 into a large family. When she turned 18, she moved to Brighton, Massachusetts to live with her sister and find work. It was in Mass. that she became married and started a family. Bridie moved to Connecticut and raised her three children. It was here that Bridie showed her love of gardening and being outdoors. She loved working in her yard and garden. She would listen to country music, as well as Gaelic and Irish songs from her homeland. For the past 16 years Bridie lived in NJ in order to be near her grandkids and family. By all accounts, Bridie was beloved by all. She was very down to earth, and after a short period of shyness, she would open up and be your best friend. She loved her children and her family, and always put their needs before hers. She would do anything for those she loved, and it is this kindness that everyone will remember and cherish. Surviving is her daughter, Sharon Urban; two sons, Jonathan Cunha and Stephen Cunha; three sisters, Norah McDermott, Madeline Nikoras, and Catherine Stewart; and 8 beloved grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd. Middletown. A Burial of Ashes will be held privately. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in Bridie's name to the Lung Cancer Initiative: www.lungcancerinitiativenc.org Arrangements are under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
