Obituary

Ross “Blaine” Carter
1944-2021

Blaine Carter, 77, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021, after a six-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Blaine was born on February 4, 1944, in Spring City, Utah, to Ross and Melba Carter. Blaine often talked about his childhood memories: soapbox derby races, herding sheep with Uncle Jack in Spring City, building huts in the orchards, racing cars down Center Street, and was always one step behind his older brother, Roger.

His life changed forever when he first laid eyes on a young Glenda Johnson. After three attempts and multiple root beers, he finally got the courage to ask her out while she was working at Kirk’s Drive-In. They were married on August 9, 1963, in the Salt Lake City temple. Together, Blaine and Glenda had one daughter and six sons. She was the love of his life and the two were inseparable until her passing four years ago.

Blaine’s first job was at the Bishop’s Welfare Farm tending chickens. From there, he worked at Eli’s Fine Foods in Orem. In 1962, he served in the National Guard for six months where he gained a love for his country. He started working at Albertson’s grocery store as a baker in 1963 and was a bakery manager for 39 years. He finished out his baking career at Macey’s grocery store. Later in life, he drove a school bus for Alpine School District for several years and loved interacting with the kids.

Blaine had a love for his Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. He cherished his firm testimony of the gospel and held many callings. His favorite calling was working with the Young Men where he could spend time with his boys.

He was a hard worker and very talented, but his greatest achievement was his family. Together they enjoyed long drives, family vacations, camping, and spending time at the family cabin, aka: his “little slice of Heaven”, that he built with his boys.

Blaine was the rock of his family and always put everyone’s needs before his own. He was greatly loved by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Blaine is survived by his children: Kyle Carter, Elaine (Dan) Johnson, Karl (Sunny) Carter, Rodney Carter, Robert Carter, Andy (Jill) Carter, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his wife (Glenda), son (Richard), his parents (Ross and Melba), bother (Roger), and sister (Jacque).

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 22nd at 11:00AM at the Orem 2nd ward Church building, 80 South 280 East Orem, UT 84058. A viewing will be held on Monday, June 21st from 6-8PM at the Walker Sanderson Mortuary, 646 East 800 North, Orem, UT and from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church prior to the funeral service.
