Willie Chiles entered into eternal rest on Monday June 14, 2021 in the afternoon at the family home. 

Willie Chiles, son of the late Frank and Mary Jane Chiles was born on June 28, 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina. Three sib­lings predeceased him in death, Annie Laura McCray, Rosa Mae Chiles and Frank Chiles, Jr.

Willie received his formal education in the public schools of Richland County. Willie was a proud graduate of Bethel High School, class of 1963. After graduation, Willie enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served our country for four years until he was honorably discharged. He returned home and attended Benedict College of Columbia, SC where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in education.

Willie Chiles loving heart left a beacon of light for all in the com­munity who knew him. Many relationships were formed in 1963 when he established a photography business and named it Chiles Studio presently known as Chiles and Chiles. Willie held a position as County Supervisor for the Department of Education for 48 years.

 He was fluent in many languages and loved going to the casinos; especially with his wife and special friends Alphonzo and Beverly Jacobs.

On July 5, 1990 Willie Chiles married the love of his life, Betty in Conway, SC.

Willie leaves to cherish his loving memories, his devoted and faithful wife of thirty years Betty Chiles; eight loving children, Catherine Johnson (Richard) of Columbia, SC, Kendrick Chiles (Wendy) of Columbia, SC, Willisa Tia Brown of Columbia, SC, Lamont Lucas(Turina) of Charlotte, NC, Jacqueline Davis (Carl) of Columbia, SC, Anthony Lucas (Cydney) of Bear, DE, Tina Lucas (Larenzo) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lisa M. Hall (Kenny) of Gaston, SC. Thirty-two grandchildren, Twenty-five great grandchil­dren, one sister Mary Alice Butler of Poolesville, MD and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Willie will be dearly missed by many at Lower Richland Bus Shop.

 

 

 

Willie Chiles of Columbia passed on June 14, 2021. There will be a viewing held from 2:00-4:00 Monday, June 21, 2021, at Leevy's Funeral Home in Columbia, SC. The funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Leevy's Funeral Home in Columbia, SC. Burial and Military rites will follow after the service at 1:00 p.m. at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC. Ocean View Funeral Home and Beach Crematory, Conway Chapel will be assisting the family with service arrangements.
