Katie Eastwood Carter

     Katie Eastwood Carter, 90, of Graham, passed away on Saturday 6/12/2021 at her residence.  A native of Orange County, she was the wife of the late Rev. David D. Carter and the daughter of Robert Aubrey Eastwood and Annie Mae Massey Eastwood, both deceased.

     Katie formerly worked at Burlington Industries, Isley Knitting Mill and Olympic Narrow Fabrics.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Christian Church.  She loved working in her flowers and was especially proud to have served as a Cub Scout Den Mother at Pinecroft Baptist Church.  You could always hear her happily humming Christian hymns as she sat sewing and crocheting.

     She is survived by her daughters, Judy Carter Overbey, of the home,  Debbie Carter Byrd,  of Mebane,  Angelia Carter Kendrick and her husband, Joey, of Graham;  a son, Steven Carter and his wife, Wendy,  of McLeansville;  two  sisters, Vertice Eastwood Holder,  of Graham, Shirley Webster, of Elon;  two  brothers,  Mertice Eastwood, and Joel Eastwood,  both of Burlington.  She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.   As well as her own family, she truly loved her Carter family in-laws.

      She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Aubrey Carter; a grandson, Nicholas Byrd; 9 siblings; and two sons in law, Silas Overbey and Larry Byrd.

       Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday 6/15/2021 at the Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington.  Rev. Rick Webster will officiate.  Burial will follow the service at Mt. Zion Christian Church Cemetery.
