Freda M. Culmo W Warwick, Rhode Island Obituary

Freda M. Culmo

Warwick, RI - Freda M. Culmo, 84, entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Born in Ansonia, CT, a daughter of the late Anthony and Elena (Mondazzi) Gioacchini, she resided in Connecticut for most of her life moving to Rhode Island in 2000. Freda enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children in Connecticut where she also sold real estate and worked for a major insurance co. When called upon, Freda relocated to Dallas Texas where she helped raise her grandchildren until they graduated from high school. When the opportunity to retire to the four seasons of Rhode Island came in 2000, Freda embraced it as another new beginning. Reconnecting with old friends from Connecticut and making new ones in RI, she would spend “ladies' days out” exploring all that her new home state had to offer. Being a self-proclaimed book worm, days simply relaxing reading book after book was her true enjoyment in retirement. Taking walks with Holly, her collie mix was also something that Freda loved doing. She is survived by four children: Eric A. Culmo, Elaine Cretella, Michael V. Culmo of Florida, and Carleen Culmo of Connecticut; grandchildren: Daniel Culmo, Gabe, and Jonathan Cretella of Florida; one great grandson: Dominic (also of Florida) and many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Christine Culmo, two sisters: Ellen Fidalgo & Agnes Virgo, and by her daughter-in-law, Carole Culmo. A memorial gathering in Florida will be announced for the month of August. In lieu of flowers, the memorial donations may be made to: Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741-5000 (www.bestfriends.org). Condolences may be offered to her family and remembrances of Freda shared online at www.carpenterjenks.com.
