Dorcas I. Brinson

Dorcas I. Brinson, 87, of Cleveland, TN passed away on June 9, 2021. She was born on July 7, 1933 to the late Hobson and Mable Jones. She was born the fifth child and daughter of a music store owner, that developed a love for music in her at a young age, becoming an accomplished pianist. She attended Lee College, where she met her soon to be husband of 68 years, Russell Brinson-to whom she was a devoted Minister’s wife; they traveled the world, ministering together. She was an active member of North Cleveland Church of God and loved worshiping with her church family. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Frances Elkins, Lewis Jones, Ruth White, and Sybil Watts. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 68 years, Russell Brinson; son Terrell Brinson and his wife Debbie and their children: Terrah Holcomb (Benjamin) and Tyler Brinson (Diana); daughter Tonna Prater and her husband Dale and their children: Brock Bruce (Heather) and Brooke Lee (Patrick); great grandchildren: Miah Lee, Elleson Bruce, Bella Lee, Carter Bruce, Emmalyn Lee, Willa Rose Lee, Tenlee Holcomb, Raynah Holcomb, Gideon Holcomb, Savannah Brinson, and one on the way. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A celebration of Dorcas’ life will be held at 11am on Saturday in the Cleveland Chapel of Companion Funeral Home with a visitation for one hour prior to the service. She will be entombed at Sunset Memorial Gardens following her service.
