Donna (Davis) Small, 78 of Ellington, loving wife of 56 years to Laurence G. Small, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born September 15, 1942, in Rockville to the late, Roy and Marion (McKeown) Davis. She grew up on the family property on Fox Hill and played in the woods around the tower as a kid. She was a 1960 graduate of Rockville High School. Donna loved to sew, make needlepoint, especially wall needlepoint art, and was an avid bowler. She also loved crossword puzzles. Donna was employed at Rockville Bank. Donna and Larri purchased White-Gibson-Small Funeral Service in Rockville in 1971 where Donna, as a licensed Funeral Director and owner, helped run the family business until 2004 when they retired and sold the business to the Pietras Family. Donna enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited all 50 states, Eastern Canada, Europe, Caribbean Islands and Aruba. Traveling to the family camp in Maine was where she spent many hours and memorable family vacations with her sons. The Small Family lived in Tolland, Rockville and Ellington and were involved in the community over the years. Donna was a faithful member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and very active prior to her illness. Donna will be remembered for her generosity and her gentle, kind, loving ways. Besides her husband, she is survived by her sons; David L. Small and his wife Christine, Jason R. Small; her 4 grandchildren, Griffin D. Small, Kathryn Piper Small, Connor V. Small and Mason Small; her many Irish Cousins with whom she was very close; her sister , Susan (Davis) Thibodeau; nephew, Michael P. Thibodeau and niece, Melissa Thibodeau. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Paul R. Davis. Relatives and friends may join the family on Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 2-5 p.m at Tolland Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Merrow Rd, Tolland. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at St John’s Episcopal Church, 523 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT (Please meet at church).
