Larry Henry
Larry W. Henry, 82, Oblong, IL passed away on Thursday June 10, 2021 at his home with his family beside him. Born on August 28, 1938 in Robinson, IL he was the son of Lewis and Maxine (Freeland) Henry. On August 8, 1960 he married Phyllis Slocum who survives. Larry was lifetime farmer and early in his life he worked for Whitmer Billingsly on an oil rig in Crawford County. He was a graduate of Oblong High School Class of 1956 and was of the Methodist faith. Larry was a member of the Crawford County Fair Board as Beef Superintendent for what seemed to be a million years and he raised Angus beef cattle for many years. He served as the vice President of the Oblong Gun Club. He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting and playing billiards. Larry traveled all over the United States and Canada usually hunting several different species of birds. He also did several Mission trips to Mexico over 10 years and was an avid fan of “THE DUKE” John Wayne. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Henry, Oblong, IL; two sons and a daughter-in-law Joe and Nikki Henry, Oblong, IL and Bill Henry, Oblong, IL; two daughters and a son-in-law Jodi and Jeff Wiman, Oblong, IL and Pam Henry Thomas, Oblong, IL; two grandchildren Kristin Henry and Fiancé Brandon Scott, Newton, IL and Raegan Henry, Oblong, IL; great-granddaughter Kamber Scott, Newton, IL ; a great grandson due in September 2021; sister-in-law Donna Henry and a nephew Lewis Lee Henry. Preceding Larry in death were his parents and a brother Lewis Edward Henry. It was Larry’s wish not to have any type of service. There will be a public visitation on Wednesday June 16, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL. There will be a private family graveside service. The family requests that an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Crawford County 4-H. Envelopes will be at or may be mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O.
