She grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Minneota High School. She was united in marriage to Raymond E. Olafson in Minneota on June 24, 1947. Ray and Katherine were married for 60 years until Ray’s death in 2007. Katherine lived in Minneota until moving to Hill Street Place in Marshall, MN in 2008. In 2016, she moved to Boulder Creek in Marshall and lived there until her death on Sunday June 6, 2021 at the age of 96. Katherine demonstrated a strong Christian faith and was a devoted supporter of her family. She loved her family and loved spending time with them. Katherine was active in supporting Raymond in their insurance business. She enjoyed traveling and camping. Her hobbies of knitting, crocheting, and embroidery have brought joy to the many recipients of her afghans and dishtowels. She enjoyed playing cards and computer games. Katherine is survived by her children Marge (Gary) Thostenson of Montevideo; Joan (Barry) Detloff of Somerset, WI; David (Margaret) Olafson of Marshall; grandchildren Erica (Chris) Krueger; Jeff Thostenson; and Blaise (Desiree) Olafson; brothers Lawrence (Lavonne) Moorse; Francis (Marie) Moorse. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond, brothers Joe, Bernard, Leo and Richard; in-laws Mary Moorse, Helene Moorse, Colleen Moorse, Georgette Moorse, Bernard Olafson, Anne Olafson, Elmer Schumacher.
