Gaines, Martha Warren – Age 83, of Hendersonville, TN passed away August 5, 2012. Mrs. Gaines was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and a 1948 Graduate of Litton High School. She and her loving husband of 60 years, Walter Clay Gaines, Sr., was the first couple to marry in the Inglewood Baptist Church. Mrs. Gaines was a world traveler and loved to sew Christmas ornaments for the grandchildren each year. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Mrs. Gaines is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clay Gaines, Sr. and is survived by her children, Barbara Halcomb Rick, Clay Gaines Linda, Winston Gaines Linda; brother, George Warren Dorothy; grandchildren, Nicole Pittman Rob, Trent Halcomb Meghan, Wesley Gaines Jamie, Lindsey Gaines, Sarah Gaines; great-grandchildren, Kate and Caroline Pittman, Samuel Gaines, Shelby Halcomb, and Charlotte Gaines. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, August 7th from 4-8 PM and Wednesday, August 8th, from 12-1 PM. A Life Celebration Service will be held on Wednesday, August 8th, at 1:oo PM in the chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pall bearers will include Trent Halcomb, Wesley Gaines, Rob Pittman, Tommy Warren, Stan and Rick Warren. Honorary pall bearers will be Nicole Pittman, Lindsey Gaines, Sarah Gaines, Kate Pittman, Caroline Pittman, Samuel Gaines, Shelby Halcomb and Charlotte Gaines. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and The Memorial Foundation 100 Bluegrass Commons Bl # 320 Hendersonville, TN 37075 in Memory of Mrs. Gaines.
