George Kisner
<p>George Kisner, born May 1, 1931, died May 19, 2021, of heart disease. Per George’s wishes, his body has been cremated, and a picnic gathering will be held at the pavilion at Flint Creek Estates at a late date.</p> <p>George was born May 1, 1931, the youngest son of David Warren Kisner and Ethel Alicia (Raffety) Kisner. He graduated from Fertile High School in northern Iowa in 1949. He enlisted in the army and served 2 years at Ft. Meade. After an honorable discharge, he married Dorothy Kennedy and lived in Iowa City. In 1971 they were divorced. He married Harriet Jane Yoder on 12/24/1971 and moved to Wellman, Iowa. Among his many accomplishments, he built and managed a mobile home park named Flint Creek Estates on the west side of Wellman. He and Harriet lived a few blocks away, but most summer evenings found them socializing in the pavilion and children’s park of the trailer park. Their 4th of July parties were a town favorite, especially as George participated in the town parade. He drove a tractor pulling a big hay wagon, loaded with children and friends who were warmly welcomed to the party afterward. George and Harriet enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, and became snowbirds after their retirements, with properties in Sun City, Arizona George was a member of the Washington Masonic Lodge, Brighton Order of the Eastern Star, Loyal Order of the Moose, #1096 of Iowa City, and Elks Lodge, #2559 of Sun City, AZ.</p> <p>He is survived by two children: Kathy Kisner (John Curtin) and John Kisner (Jennifer Cook), all of Des Moines; two granddaughters: Mollie and Zoe; four stepchildren: Bonnie (John) Goodwin of Lisbon, Jane Coufal of Sun City, AZ, Doug (Janet) Yoder of Kalona and Jeff Yoder of Sun City, AZ; several nieces and nephews; and his best friends, Al and Mary Jo Haugen of Wellman.</p> <p>He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Carol Higgins and Frances Magrabi, his brothers Charles and Herbert Kisner, his ex-wife Dorothy, and his wife Harriet.</p> <p>Please share a thought, memory or condolence with his family.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Wellman-Scofield Public Library.</p> <p>Please do not send flowers</p>Obituary
