PAYDLI – Donald John

September 28, 1933 – May 15, 2021

 

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Paydli announce his passing at the age of 87. Don grew up and started farming in the Bruno district. On October 15, 1957 he married Geraldine Stahl. They moved to Saskatoon in 1968. He continued his passion for farming, moving to the Allan district in 1978, ultimately retiring in 2019. Don began working in the potash industry in 1973 at the Cominco Potash Mine. He retired from Agrium in 1994. Don enjoyed participating in sports and outdoor activities, particularly hunting, fishing, curling, bowling, and golfing. During his retirement years, he was heavily involved with square dancing and dancing clubs, serving as President of the Saskalone Dance Club for numerous years. He was an active parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus #9539 for many years. Don enjoyed travelling, taking numerous bus and cruise excursions. He looked forward to his coffee get togethers with other retirees from Agrium. Family activities were especially dear to his heart. Left to share a legacy of loving memories are his children Ronald Paydli, Carla (Robert) Katerynych, Lionel (Alison) Paydli, Loralei (Stan) Garchinski, Kalmen (Yvonne) Paydli, grandchildren David (Erin) Hamel, Christine (Zach) Hamel, RaeAnne Hamel, Jenna (Nick) Paydli, Cody (Ally) Paydli, Justin (Taylor) Garchinski, Jenelle (Tanner) Schatz, Nicole (Jerome) Freriks, Colby (Tara) Paydli,  9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, extended family Jessica (Ryan) Reid, Ryan (Carley) Reid and Travis Katerynych and their children, brothers Joseph (Maxine) Paydli and Lorne (Myrtle) Paydli, sisters-in-law Maxine Paydli, Louise Tetzlaff and Judy Stahl, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dear friend and dance partner of 20 years Louise Holynski. Don was predeceased by his wife Geraldine, parents Michael and Mary Paydli, brothers Francis and Allan Paydli, sister-in-law Josephine Hassen and brother-in-law Roger Stahl. Due to Covid-19 there will be a virtual service at 10:00 a.m. on Friday May 21, 2021 available at www.faithproductions.ca/livestream . The Rite of Committal will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. At a later date, a celebration of life will occur. In lieu of flowers or otherwise, memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, Wildlife Federation, or a charity of your choice.
