Marguerite Cecilia "Ceil" Baxter

Baxter, Marguerite Cecilia "Ceil," 67, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Ceil was raised in Virginia Beach, Va, and was a graduate of First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach and Hollins University. Ceil was an active volunteer and later worked for the Historic Richmond Foundation. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marguerite Hillegass. She is survived by her children, Blair Gilchrist (Cappy), Anne Shannon Baxter (Leo) and Charles Baxter (Eleanor); her three granddaughters, Wells and Eloise Gilchrist and Margot Spicer-Phelps; her sisters, Mary McNeal, Anne Shepherd (Ken), Tish Sheetz (Roy) and Theresa McPhillips (Chuck); her brother, James Hillegass (Tiffany); and her loving niece and nephews. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:00am on Monday, June 14, 2021, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Road, Richmond, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, lbda.org, or to the Historic Richmond Foundation, historicrichmond.com.
