Saunders R Elcock Obituary

Saunders Ritson Elcock was born in Caroni, Trinidad on November 24, 1945 to Mildred and Ritson Elcock. He is survived by his children Darrell Elcock and Leslin Elcock and also by his siblings Jackie Elcock, Laurel Baird, Ruth Elcock, Eugene Elcock, Anderson Elcock, and the late Greta Elcock and Cynthia Elcock. Saunders had a deep relationship with his late mother which allowed her to have a good rapport with her son, and was able to have a positive influence him. She encouraged him to doing the right thing and instilled biblical principles during his early childhood. He was fascinated electronics and fixing gadgets as a child which would later direct his career path in his adult life. Saunders attended St. Joseph Government Primary School, then moved on to Osmond Boys High School. After High School he got into a trade working on radios and television and electrical work. He then took the opportunity to move to the United States and join the military where he served enlisted the US Army in 1970. In 1978 he married Valerie Hosford and had two children Darrell and Leslin Elcock. His main interest was soccer where he played while in the military while stationed in Fort Carson Colorado, and reading many books on Christianity. After 24 years in the US Army, Saunders retried as Staff Sargent to pursued his career as an electrician. Saunders has been a member of Maranatha Gospel Hall since 2000 where he got involved in prayer meetings with his congregation. He also helped in other activities such as sunday school picknicks, providing transportation support, and food. He also offer barbering services to the kids at his church and loves to sing. Saunders also enjoyed meeting with church members after church for refreshments and getting into “debates” on the scriptures.
