Age 98, on Friday, May 14, 2021, of Mount Oliver borough. Loving husband of Rita for 73 years; beloved father of Paul (Mary) Kasicky, Andrea Hitchcock, Karen (John) Schick, Denise Fiackos, and the late Robert (Patti) Kasicky, and William Kasicky; proud and dedicated "Pappy" of Kathryn, Anna, Edward, Jennifer, Stephanie, Amy, Kristen, Jaclyn, Alexandra, and Erica; and beloved great-grandpap of 15.

"Andy, as he was known to everyone, was the epitome of a good guy. Everyone loved Andy, young and old. He was the loving husband of Rita for 73 years, and a proud and dedicated father of 6.  He was a loving “PapPap” or “Pappy” to 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was a survivor of numerous life-threatening events – beginning with surviving a hit by two trains as a young teen.  He was a War World II survivor, served in the Army Air Corp and then as an infantry man in the European front.  In his 90’s Andy survived a burst aortic aneurysm and a head and neck injury from a backwards fall over a 5’ wall while pruning a tree.

Andy was a self-taught musician of several instruments - he played tenor saxophone and clarinet in a wedding band and later was a member of a folk instrumental group. He retired from the Post Office in 1980, which allowed him to travel and engage in his many other interests.  He became quite a talented artist and continued his lifetime love of gardening, sharing his plant and tree propagations with many friends and relatives.

 More than all his personal interests, Andy was always foremost a husband and dad.  He was not a man of many words, but he was a quiet man of action.  After he proudly served our country and married, he became a family man to the max.  He dedicated himself to home and family.  He was an all-round handyman, mechanic, plumber, carpenter, bricklayer, tree-house builder, master gardener, camping trip organizer, bird and doll-house maker, Steelers and Penguin Hockey fan, and much more. The little dead-end house on a large dirt hill transitioned to a treed and garden oasis where all the neighborhood kids wanted to play.  There was nothing more important to him than family, and he was happiest when we were all together, talking, playing, and laughing.  He taught us nothing was more important to life than to treasure our families and give big hugs and kisses to friends and family.   ‘We’ll see ya when we see ya’. Andy survived the death of 2 sons, William and Robert and was predeceased by his 6 siblings."

He will be dearly, dearly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation with the family wiil be TUESDAY 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 at TIMOTHY K. SLATER Funeral Home Inc. (412-381-3337) 425 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver, 15210. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the St. Paul of the Cross Monastery on WEDNESDAY at 10:30 am. Burial will be at the St. John Vianney Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution in Andy's memory to the St. Paul of the Cross Monastery (information below) or a charity of choice.
