William Peter Donnelly loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away May 14th, 2021 in Flower Mound, TX. At the great age of 90. William (Bill) is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jeanie Donnelly, survived by his children, son Mike Bristow, son Joe Free, granddaughter Jessica Myers, grandson Joe Free III, granddaughters Amanda Fisher, and Angela Free, daughter Jeanie Free, grandsons David Etier, and Jeff Cates, son, Bill Free, granddaughter, Autumn Wilson, grandson Cameron Free, granddaughter Lyndsey Free, son Freddie Free, grandsons Charlie Free, and Dustin Brooks, granddaughter Christy Brooks, daughter Toni Smith, granddaughter Tasha Carroll, grandson Nico Smith. Great-grandchildren, Taylor, Ryan, Max, Naomi, Abbey, Alaina, Bacardi (dog), TJ, David, Nikko, Julia, Liberty, Quinn, Miles, Ella, Lily, Hudson, Carson, Macie, Ozzy, Matthew, Zachery, Noah, Loren. Great-great grandchildren, Joel, Matthew, Giuseppe. Sisters, Catherine and Hellen, Brother John, and numerous nieces and nephews. William was born to William and Angelina Donnelly December 31, 1930 in New York, New York where he graduated from the school of hard knocks, later to pursue a career in bartending. He moved to Las Vegas where he met his soon to be wife, Jeanie Gunn. They married on September 15, 1960. In 1963 Bill and Jeanie and family moved to Dallas, Texas and then to Carrollton, Texas where they lived happily together. Bill and Jeanie owned and operated a successful Jazz Club, The Recovery Room in Dallas through the 70’s and 80’s. The Recovery Room was graced by the presence of many great jazz artists, Buddy Rich, Red Garland, Miles Davis to name a few. They held annual celebrations to commemorate the life of the late, Great Charlie Parker, with an event called, “Bird Lives”! Years later after Jeanie’s passing Bill and Jeanie and the Recovery Room were recognized at the Dallas Sammons Center for their contributions to the Dallas Jazz Society. A memorial service is scheduled for May 22, 2021. Doors open at 1:30 pm with service starting at 2:00 pm. at Dalton and Son Funeral Home, 1550 N. Stemmons Frwy. Lewisville, TX. 75067. Minister Kermit Tandberg presiding. Celebration of Life immediately following at the home of Brad & Toni Smith, 5032 Timberglen Dr. Flower Mound, TX. 75028 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Flowers may be sent to Dalton and Son Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers the family ask that donations are made to the Dementia Society of America, www.dementiasociety.org (800-336-3684) in memory of William Peter Donnelly.
