Perrin Gene Palmer

Perrin “Gene” Palmer lost his battle with cancer on May 13th, 2021 at his home in Kellyville, OK at the age of 79. He was born to Perrin Earl Palmer & Beulah Irene Lewis (Cole) in Tulsa, OK on Aug. 10, 1941. Gene grew up in West Tulsa & attended Sapulpa Schools. He graduated from Sapulpa High School with the Class of ‘61. Gene then pursued his college education at Oklahoma State University where he earned a degree in Technical Drafting in 1962. He then went onto wed his childhood sweetheart in the Summer of 1964. He then had two children within the marriage, David G Palmer & Lisa J Bishop. Gene then graciously enlisted to serve our great country in the United States Army National Guard in the year of 1965. Throughout his service he obtained Specialist Five ranking & also became a Medic for his unit. He was presented with an Honorable Discharge in Sept. of 1969. Gene didn’t stop there, he went onto gain his Certificate in Engineering Technicians in 1973. He began working for City of Tulsa where he built plans for Tulsa streets. He moved onto begin his career with Williams Brothers in which he constructed the blueprints for Tulsa’s Woodland Hills Mall that still stands today. His product of work became well known & was hired to begin designing pipelines for Jefferies Industry. Gene also enjoyed helping his father at the family owned key shop, Palmer Lock & Key. He then re-married in 1986 & gained a son, Danny Bishop. He ended his career at Green Bay Packaging, retiring after 10 years in 2001. In Gene’s younger years he obtained an obsession with trains. He began collecting them, building tracks and playing with them even through his adulthood his passion continued. Gene has always loved Nascar. He attended many Nascar races with his son Danny over the years. He also loved to watch his granddaughter race dirt track. Gene spent a lot of Saturday nights at the Bingo Hall with his daughter Lisa. Game shows & gambling were Gene’s most popular things over the years. His laughter & goofy jokes were definitely memorable. Gene is preceded in death by his parents Perrin Earl Palmer & Beulah Irene Lewis (Cole), his sister Nancy Mae Palmer, his brother William Joseph Palmer & his son David Gene Palmer. He is survived by daughter Lisa Bishop & husband Craig of Kellyville, OK; son Danny Bishop & wife Rebecca of Broken Arrow, OK; Grandsons Tomas Bishop of Glenpool, OK, Brett Bishop of Broken Arrow, OK; Granddaughters Natasha Bishop of Sapulpa, OK, Kimberly Tyre & husband Joshua of Kellyville, OK, Hannah McAfee of Broken Arrow, OK, Rachel Bishop of Edmond, OK. Great-Grandchildren, Cameron, Joshua, Brielle & Koda. He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Palmer & wife Patricia of Arizona; Ronnie Palmer & wife Wanda of Mannford, OK; Wanda Earlene Palmer of Tulsa, OK. As well as many of uncles, aunts, cousins & friends.
