Marilyn Theresa Darago Obituary

Marilyn Theresa Darago, 1945-2021, was a life-time Akronite. Even with a long life (76 years) she remains "Forever 39". She died suddenly May 11, 2021 from a massive stroke.
MARILYN ALWAYS DID IT HER WAY, and chose a time too soon, to go. She loved a good (and sometimes heated) discussion, but was a bulldog to make sure her family was protected and things were done right. She enjoyed passing her knowledge and love of learning onto others. She would tell you as she saw it; with no sugar-coating. Early in life, Marilyn worked at the family store, Darago Bros. She attended Garfield HS; graduating Valedictorian in 1963. She graduated from Akron University with a History Degree and taught at Stow HS for many years. Returning to Akron University, Marilyn obtained an Accounting Degree and became a pioneering female CPA in the Akron area. Marilyn was also prior Treasurer of William Penn Association Branch #044.
Marilyn leaves a family who loved her greatly. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph Darago, Jr., and Theresa (Varga) Darago; she is survived by her big brother, Alex/Sandor (Sharon) Darago; and sister, Elizabeth Darago. She is mourned by nieces/nephews, Carmen (Sean) Buck, Joe (Christie) Darago & Family, Nikki (Mike) Kepich & Family, Teresa (Doug) Mollohan & Family, Rose (Ben) Bentley & Family, and Kimi (Chris) Confer & Family. Also, close "cuzins", Carolyn Sudar, John (Gretchen) Sudar & Family, Steve (Cathy) Sudar, and Ilona (Dean) Speidel.
A great animal lover, she met her numerous horses, dogs, cats & a few birds and baby squirrels reuniting "over the rainbow bridge".
Per her wishes, Marilyn will be buried with her grandparents. To honor Marilyn, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Noah's Lost Ark, Inc. (A Large Cat Rescue), 8424 Bedell Road, Berlin Center, Ohio 44401 or One of a Kind Pet Rescue (a no kill shelter), 1929 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44313.
GRAVESIDE SERVICES, 11 AM, MONDAY, MAY 17, 2021. MT. PEACE CEMETERY, 183 AQUEDUCT STREET, AKRON 44303. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, Akron)
