Bob M. Burris, 85, a lifelong member of the Lapeer community, passed away on May 12, 2021. Bob was born on June 18, 1935, in Lapeer, to parents John and Rachel (Ellwood) Burris. After high school, Bob served his country proudly in the United States navy. After getting out of the Navy, he met and married his beloved wife Margot (Sommerfeldt) Burris on January 27, 1968. Bob always had a plan, whether it was a plan to build something large and complicated to brewing a cup of coffee; he always had a plan to get the job done as efficiently as possible. He loved to work with his hands, specifically woodworking, creating things out of wood was one of his favorite pastimes. Bob was also and avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and even tended his own garden. His family was the most important thing in his life and they will miss him dearly. Bob is survived by his wife Margot Burris of Lapeer; children: James (Denise) Campbell of Columbiaville, Matt (Denise) Burris of Humble, Texas, Cindy (James) Gertiser of White Hall, MI, and John Burris of Rousepoint, NY; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his three brothers: Ellwood, Jack and Richard; and his aforementioned parents. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM Monday, May 24, 2021 at Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. Pastor Jeremy Lazzell will officiate. Bob's family will receive friends from 10-11AM the morning of the service. Military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church or WMPC Radio.
