Melissa M. Telesha Obituary

Melissa M. Telesha, 52, of Mechanicsburg, passed beyond the veil on Monday, May 10, 2021, at her home and now knows what those of us still here do not. Born January 23, 1969, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Willie Hitt, her guardian angel Dad, and E. Doris Amspacher, who survives, along with her earth angel Dad, Noah. She graduated from West Perry High School and completed secretarial training at the Thompson Institute, after which she began her 20+ year career as a marketing administrative assistant with Insurance Agents & Brokers. Adventurous and eccentric, Melissa, who did not like being called “Missy” but her family did it anyway, loved nature, the outdoors and hiking, reading, shopping at Kohls and Target, hosting outdoor movie nights at her home, ghosts and investigating the paranormal, historical and modern true crime, visiting old cemeteries, and all things spooky, creepy, and cute or as she put it, eepy-cray. She was an armchair Ripperologist, always researching and trying to figure out who did it? Her favorite holiday by far was Halloween, and every year she looked forward to choosing a costume and planning her family’s annual “Halloween Hootenanny” hosted by her parents, as well as the many family gatherings held throughout the year. Melissa enjoyed making lists and planning events and had many fun vacations with her husband, her large group of friends, and her family, and visited a variety of places including Ireland, Salem, MA, Sleepy Hollow, NY, the Lizzie Borden House, and numerous small towns where she loved learning the local lore and history. She also enjoyed trying fancy recipes, cooking, and baking, but was prone to swearing at the food and anyone within earshot if it did not turn out the way she had hoped. Surviving are her very loving husband, Craig A. Telesha; her step-son, Austin J. Telesha; brothers, Scott Hitt (Bobbie Jo), Terry Hitt (Chris), and Gary Amspacher (Christina Breski); sisters, Deb Gingrich (Todd), Teresa Mitten (Todd), Dawn Hostetter (Tim), and Amanda Seiders; nieces and nephews, Damian Baughman, Nick Hitt, Sophia Seiders, Chris Rill, Jodi Miracle, Renee Williams, Tim Johnston, and Jeremy Hostetter; aunts, Linda Staudenmayer and Nova Stonesifer, and numerous other cousins, relatives, and friends. Not to be forgotten is Hank, her old Toyota truck that she refused to replace, and her beloved rescue dog, Bristol. In addition to her Dad, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Howard and Dolly Shetz, her uncles Howdy and Joe Shetz, and many other family members -- no doubt she is already planning a heavenly reunion for them all. All are invited to remember Melissa at a Gathering of Guys, Gals, and Ghouls on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, 7:00 p.m., at the Jesse H. Geigle Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or donations in her memory may be made to: Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 with many thanks to their staff for caring for Melissa during her last earthly days.
