Philomena Clara Wenninger Obituary

March 13, 1921 – May 3, 2021

It is with a sad heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Phyllis Wenninger on May 3, 2021 at Drayton Valley Extended Care. At the age of 100 years, God took her to heaven to be under his loving care.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Felix, her brothers; Mike, Martin, Joe and Little Joe, her sisters; Madeline, Francis, Wally, Eva and Anne, her parents, Alphonse and Katherine and step- mom, Anne.

Phyllis is survived by her loving children, Leonard (Loraine) Wenninger and Loreen (Jerry) O’Quinn. Also left to mourn her loss are her grandchildren; Lauri (Jeff), Parker, Leslie (Randee), Wenninger, Scott McGillis (Tanya Rybak).

She also leaves behind five great grandchildren; Paxton, Isaiah, and Finnigan Wenninger, Grayson Parker and Malachi Rybak, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Phyllis was raised with her brothers and sisters on the farm near Salvador, Sask., however at the age of eighteen, she left home and worked as an aide at the Rosetown hospital.  In 1944, she married Felix.

Phyllis’s greatest pastime was puzzles and Bingo, but she had a passion for gardening, baking and cooking. Her last job that she worked at was cooking and helping in the kitchen at the Drayton Valley White Bull Café.

She has always been a caring, kind, compassionate and loving lady with a great sense of humor and plenty of “spunk”. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  Her nick name has been “Cheezie Queen” but she will always be a queen in the hearts of family and friends. Her faith, positive outlook and sense of humor helped get her through life. Phyllis will always be a precious and treasured memory in the hearts of all who knew her.

A private family service will be held at Riverview Cemetery, Drayton Valley.

In gratitude for the care Phyllis received by all the staff at Drayton Valley Care Centre, in lieu of flowers the family would ask donations be made to the Long-Term Care through the Drayton Valley Health Foundation, 4550 Madsen Avenue, Drayton Valley, Alberta T7A 1N8.
