Lyle Wayne Hagerty, age 80 of Laingsburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at his home. A Funeral Service honoring Mr. Hagerty will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 310 N. Crum St., Laingsburg, MI 48848. Rev. Robert C. Bacik will celebrate. Interment immediately following at Laingsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Lyle was born March 20, 1941 in Laingsburg, Michigan to Floyd Fredrick and Mildred Marie (McCaffrey) Hagerty. He was a lifelong resident of Laingsburg, graduating from Laingsburg High School in 1959 and going on to Central Michigan University achieving his bachelor’s degree. Lyle went on to complete his education at Michigan State University with his master’s degree in education. He married Roselind Grace Powell on September 7, 1962 recently celebrating 58 years together. Lyle taught Social Studies in the Lansing School District for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, grilling, fishing and camping as well as bicycle riding. Lyle was an avid golfer, and a passionate supporter of the Detroit Sports Teams, the MSU Spartans and the Laingsburg Sports Programs. In his retirement years the family enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. Lyle is survived by his loving wife; Rosie, his children; Andy (Kristy) Hagerty, Alex (Karen) Hagerty, Jamison Hagerty, and Michael (Janel) Hagerty, his grandchildren; Megan (Tober) West, Matthew Hagerty, Jared Hagerty, Mitchell Kauffman, Logan Hagerty, Makayla Hagerty, Noah Hagerty, Hailey Hagerty, Maddie Audretsch, Jack Audretsch, Kallin Hagerty, Quinn Hagerty, Adalyn Hagerty, Kenzie Hagerty, his 2 nieces and 2 nephews and the many friends he has made through the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers; Gary, Bob, and Glen and a sister; Donna Lee. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Sparrow Home Hospice, 1210 West Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48915 or to the Laingsburg Food Bank, 210 Crum St., Laingsburg, MI 48848.
