Carole D. Pugh, age 92, passed on from this life on April 7, 2021 surrounded by her loving family in her own home. She was the only child of John and Emilie Brown, but was the mother of five and a “second mother” to countless other kids as they grew up. She was the grandmother of nine and great-grandmother of seven. She was married to Roy Calvin Pugh, Sr. for 68 years until his death on December 14, 2017. She was preceded in death by her son, John A. Pugh, and is survived by four adult children, Linda Bridges and her life partner, Peter Driskell; Roy C. Pugh, Jr. and his wife, Angela (Benefield) Pugh; Jettie C. Pugh and her fiancé, Carroll Cobb; and Michael R. Pugh, and his wife Kim (Hoang) Pugh. She loved spending time with family and hosting gatherings at her home for birthdays, holidays and special occasions. She was most happy in her garden, becoming a Master Gardener in her 70s. She delighted in sharing the fruits and vegetables she grew in abundance. Touring her flower gardens was a treat for the senses. She would nurse any stray animal or wounded person or creature, doing her best to restore them to health and well- being. Carole was a poet, a writer, and quite an artist, sketching and painting, as well as crafting items as gifts for her family and friends. She was a fun mother who was up for any adventure. She traveled with her husband, Roy by RV to his beloved Army reunions, visiting many states along the way. Even in her later years, she traveled to Canada and had a blast at Universal City, Florida, playing like a little kid. She zip-lined in the Rain Forest and raced around on her scooter even when her health had failed her. She was never one to grow old gracefully sitting in a rocker, but embraced life and lived to the fullest. Memorial Services will be held on June 5, 2021 at the McNutt Chapel, 1703 Porter Rd, Conroe, TX 77301 with an informal bar-b-que for family and friends to follow at the family home, 17130 Pugh Lane, Conroe, TX 77306.
