Eugene Harris
In profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Mr. Eugene Harris, age 71 of Newnan, Georgia on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021, 2:00 PM at Mount Avery Baptist Church, Whitesburg, Georgia. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 7, 2021, 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Face masks are required along with social distancing due to COVID-19. Eugene Harris departed his earthly life on May 3, 2021 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. He was born on February 8, 1950 to the late Gussie Mae Barber and Willie Amos Harris. He was the oldest of six. He was a graduate of the Class of “69” known as the Panthers at Central High School. He retired from Heritage Package (formerly known as St. Joe.) He was united in matrimony to Evelyn Pittman on June 21, 1999. He joined Shady Grove Baptist Church in Sargent, Georgia at an early age. He later moved his membership to Mt. Avery Baptist Church, where under the leadership of Bishop Kelley Moore he became part of the Pastoral Support Ministry. He continued under the leadership of Pastor DeNorris Brinkley, Sr. and became part of the D. Brinkley Male chorus. Eugene enjoyed coaching, which he did for 38 years. He also enjoyed watching western movies and football, he attended his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren games. He was truly a supporter of his family. In addition to this mother, Guesse Mae Barber and father, Willie Amos Harris, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eric and Leonard Callaway and a stepson, Karonald Undray Pittman. He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Evelyn Pittman-Harris; his loving children, Eugene Harris, Jr., Ahmadiel (Pahroosha) Harris, Demetrice Pittman, Corey Taggart, and Torey (Sabrina) Taggart; grandchildren, JaQesha, Mallory (Eugene, Jr.), Sitriyah Imani, Ben Ahmadiel Dexter, Jr., Aylah Zyanna, BenKai Vashawn, Mekaiel DeAyden, BenZion Latrey (Ahmadiel), O’Darius, Shakure, Tamarcus (Demetrice), DeCorious, Corlandous, Cordell, Koreyon, Jaquesha, Jarvaris, Corey, Jr. (Corey), Torez, Khadijah, Tenesha, Tameisha, Ariana, Morgan (Torey), Justin, Dorian, Tukeirai, ShaKayla, Karonald, Jr., Draylan, Kayden, and Malachi (Karonald); 24 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael (Leonila), C. R. Callaway, Jr. (Henriette), and Spirous (Jene) Callaway; three aunts, Mozelle Stevenson of Newnan, Georgia, Catherine Richardson and Evalena Helms of Columbus, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousin, and friends. Expression of Gratitude The family of Eugene Harris expresses our gratitude and thanks to all family and friends for comforting words, telephone calls, cards, prayers, flowers, food and all expressions of kindness shown during our time of bereavement.
