Patricia Scherer Obituary

Patricia Scherer, 70, of Kent, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in the comfort of her home.  She was born in Altoona, PA on June 16, 1950 to the late Mary Bungo Plisco and Stanley Plisco.  Patti earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Columbia Union College.  She was a teacher for several years (including teaching English in Korea) and then became a Bible Worker for the 7th Day Adventist Church.  Later in life, Patti became a Real Estate Agent and was a member of the Portage County Association of Realtors.  She enjoyed flipping houses and was an active supporter of Rose's Rescue and the APL of Portage County.  

Patti was a creative person, always looking to reduce, reuse and recycle.  She volunteered with many organizations, generously giving of her time and talents.  She wrote a book, Learning Through Play, and promoted it in a segment on the "Good Morning America" television show.  

Patti made the World a better place to live, will be deeply missed and never forgotten.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Marsha and Nancy Kephart; brothers, Michael Kephart, Thomas Plisco, brother-in-law Denver Kephart and many other relatives dear to her heart.  

She leaves her children, Jacquelyn Scherer, David Scherer, Dana (Joel) Boston and Lisa Gyulai; grandchildren, Noelle, Nicolas, Jack and Jenica; the father of her children, Gerald Scherer; sisters, Rose Kephart, Francine Reise and Mary Kay Givens; many other cherished relatives and her feline companions, Nezzie, Braveheart and Dot.  

The family would like to thank Patti's dear friends and the caregivers from both Hospice Care of the Western Reserve and Tallmadge Visiting Angels for their friendship, compassion, and skilled assistance.    

In honoring her wishes, Patti has been cremated and an Open House Gathering will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rose's Rescue, the APL of Portage County or the Humane Society of Portage County.
