Joseph A. Schumacher

Joseph Schumacher 92, of Rochester, NY went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ in heaven on April 19, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet Schumacher, their 8 children: Cathy (Gordon) Schlosser, Gerry (Ann) Schumacher, David (Kathy) Schumacher, Mary (Gib) Miller, Maureen (Gus) Robinson, Theresa (Chris) Short, Michael (Heather) Schumacher and Nancy (Dean) Wortmann. Joe’s pride and joy were his 24 Grandchildren (and spouses) & 2 Great Grand Daughters. He is also survived by his Nieces Judy (Jeff) Phipps, Rose Mary Dripps & Nephew Ray Dripps and their children. He is preceded by his parents Catherine & Al Schumacher. his Sister Mary (Ray) Dripps & His Sister in Law Nancy (Frank) Encarnacion. Joe attended Carnegie Tech (Now Carnegie Mellon University) where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design Degree. He was a graphic designer by trade and the artist for the “Mercury Skyline” Horse featured in the Rochester Horses on Parade in 2001. A proud Korean War Veteran (Army), A Knights of Columbus member (4th Degree), Member of The CMU Alumni Association, Rochester Chapter, and a longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church Thank you to The Caregivers at The Gables in Brighton for their Care and Compassion & the Veterans Administration for their care and services. Memorial Donations can be made in Joe’s memory to: The Church of The Blessed Sacrament Building Fund, 259 Rutgers St, Rochester, NY 14607 Funeral will be in his beloved hometown Pittsburgh, PA. Tears will be shed into the black & gold Terrible Towel!
