Barry F. Flanagan
Barry F. Flanagan, 66, of Columbia, South Carolina and formerly of Tolland, beloved husband of 42 years to Sharon (Bugbee) Flanagan, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Francis and Georgiann (Frawley) Flanagan, he grew up in Plainville and lived in Tolland most of his life before moving to South Carolina eight years ago. Barry was a machinist in the aero space industry for over 35 years and was presently employed by Enterprise Rent-A Car for the past four years. He enjoyed camping, playing golf and bowling. He had a great sense of humor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition of his wife, he is survived by his children, Dawn Shamber of Nebraska, Christopher Flanagan of Tariffville, and Gregory Flanagan of Colchester; his five grandchildren, Josh, Kayla, Erik, Evan, and Alex; his two sisters, Georgiann Mackiewicz and her partner Gordy Lumbra of Naples, Florida and Frances Buchholz and her husband David of Eastford, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Tammy Smith. His family will receive friends for memorial calling hours on Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 9 – 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Tolland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Barry’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P. O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
