On Sunday, April 18, 2021, Dorothy Voorhees, loving wife and mother of 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, passed away at the age of 85. Dorothy was born on May 8, 1935 in New Brunswick NJ to Stephen and Helen Blasciak. Dorothy was married to William Jay Voorhees for 24 years, who passed away on March 26, 1989, and for the past 31 years lived with her companion Frank Cichon. Dorothy worked as an administrator for the NJ court system for 48 years, retiring on October 1, 2020. Dorothy was a caring mother and wife, and deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a passion for horse racing, playing cards, and was an avid New York Giants football fan. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father Stephen, her mother Helen, and her sister Joan Carroll. She is survived by her two children, Raymond Yock and Sharon Yock Westervelt. In addition 4 grandchildren, Jason Yock his wife Kristin Yock, granddaughters Kristin Yock, Jackie Westervelt, and Jennifer Bonfiglio and her husband Thomas Bonfiglio. Dorothy is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, Emmalynn Westervelt, Caroline Yock, Giovanna Bonfiglio, and Josephine Yock A private viewing will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church, Hillsborough, NJ at 10am, . Burial will immediately follow the mass, at the New Cemetery in Somerville.
