<p>Herschel Emerson Brooks II, was born on March 24, 1948, the son of Frances and Herschel Brooks Jr. He passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 17, 2021 after a medical procedure. Herschel was born in Huntington, WV. He attended Marshall University and later received his cosmetology and barbering license in Ohio. He joined the Army in 1978 and faithfully served his country for eight years. Herschel married Paula Lupini on June 15, 2000 in Olympia, Washington.</p> <p>Herschel was a loving man, with a passion for his family, sports and the outdoors. Throughout all his life he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He felt more comfortable in the woods than any city. Herschel was a talented athlete who excelled at track and field, basketball, baseball and football.</p> <p>Herschel was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Ponzetta and Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Paula; children, Heather L, Chavez R, Joshua A, and Chere&eacute; Brooks; stepchildren, Sam L Neill, Jennifer A Mills, and Karen E Schmidt; former wife, Mary M Caproni Brooks; dear cousin, Jerry Payne; 17 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and one great-grandchild.</p> <p>A celebration of Herschel&rsquo;s life will be held at a later date.</p>
