Lee C. Landphair

Lee Charles Landphair, born April 27, 1930, only surviving son of Charles and Evalyn (Kirsch) Landphair of Strykersville, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday April 19, 2021 at the Bertrand-Chaffee Hospital in Springville at the age of 90. Lee is survived by his six children, Lawrence (Wilfredo Aponte) Landphair of New York City, Lance (Terry) Landphair of Dallas, TX, Lisa (Michael Frank) Landphair of New York City, Libby (John) Hubbard of Freedom, Paul (Laura) Landphair of Ithaca, and Lee Ann (Margaret Snyder) Landphair of Tucson, AZ; also survived by seven grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Lee is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann (O'Dell) Landphair whom he married on December 19, 1953 in Arcade and his siblings, Bruce and Joanne Landphair. Lee graduated from Arcade Central at the age of 16 and went on to study aerodynamic engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Lee then completed his Master's degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. Upon graduation, he worked at Bell Aircraft in Buffalo, NY where he worked on the development of the Bell X-14, which was a pioneering aircraft in the vertical take off and landing endeavor. Lee retired from Moog, Inc Space and Defense division in the early 1990's. Aside from Lee's love of his family, his faith, and his sincere belief in God, he enjoyed his favorite hobbies of reading and WWII aircraft. Due to Covid-19, there will be Memorial Service determined at a later date. Memorials may be made in Lee's memory to the Wyoming County Office for the Aging, 8 Perry Ave., Warsaw, NY 14569.
