Susan M. Gornikiewicz

Susan M. Gornikiewicz, 67, of Dunkirk, died Friday afternoon, April 9, 2021, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 20, 1953, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Norman S. “Ninny” and Elizabeth H. “Betty” (Stranz) Krzyzanowicz. She was a retired 44 year employee of Brooks Memorial Hospital and a life member of Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Susan was the family stone. She adored her family and time spent with them was the time she loved and cherished the most. Susan loved to watch her children and grandchildren play multiple sports, she loved watching the Yankee games and she loved traveling to visit family. Susan was generous, kind, passionate and loving and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Surviving is her husband of over 46 years Timothy D. Gornikiewicz, whom she married June 1, 1974; their children: Michelle (Jason) Berne of Hamburg, Amy (John) MacGowan of Brooklyn, and Tim (Ashley) Gornikiewicz of East Aurora; grandchildren: Nicholas, Alexander, Aidan, Olivia and Ewan. Also surviving are sisters: Nancy (Sue Connors) Krzyzanowicz and Sharon Kokocinski both of Dunkirk; mother-in-law, Wanda Reise, and sister-in-laws: Patricia Wunder and Judy Krzyzanowicz, along with nieces and nephews.Preceded in death, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Robert Krzyzanowicz. Following the guidelines and protocols administered by the governor of New York, relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 4-7 p,m,, at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty St., Dunkirk. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10 am in Blessed Mary Angela Roman Catholic Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, N.Y. 14750 or the Alzheimer’s Association.
