Charles "Andy" Andrew Hutchens Obituary

Charles "Andy" Andrew Hutchens was born December 2, 1947 in Hemet, California to James Charles and Joyce Mary (Maddock) Hutchens.  The family moved to Albany, Oregon in 1963. Where Andy completed his education. Although he would not be diagnosed until later in life, Andy was born with William's Syndrome and spent most of his life with his parents.  He married Barbara Louise Johnson on May 12, 2001 and they lived independently until his health began to deteriorate.  At that time he moved in with his sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Scott Phelps where he received amazing care and love.  Andy will be fondly remembered for his incredibly loving nature and loveable personality.  No matter what you were going through, Andy could brighten your day and cheer you up with his smile.  He was the most non-judgemental person and loved socializing with just about everyone.  His cheerful disposition was infectious and he would end all visits with "Give yourself a hug from me"!  He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews and adored them all.  Andy was very musically inclined and gifted.  He would turn anything within reach into a percussion instrument. The first time he sat at a drum set, he played like he'd done it all his life.  Following in his mother's footsteps, he also played the piano. Another of his passions was hot rods whether it be pictures, models, magazines or movies.  He enjoyed watching Professional Wrestling, Law And Order, Chicago P.D., and Austin City Limits and always had his unshelled peanuts within reach!  On April 9, 2021 at the age of 73, Andy passed away peacefully at his home in Salem, Oregon surrounded by his loving family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James Charles Hutchens, Joyce Mary Maddock Hutchens Baker, and Delmar Dale Baker. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson Hutchens, sisters Christine Fender (Robert), Linda Huddleston (John), Vera Davidson (Joseph), Sheila Davis (Lonnie), and Denise Phelps (Scott) his brother Troy Hutchens (Sheri), and dozens of nieces and nephews.  Happy trails to our special brother, we will all miss you.
