Betty Jane Taylor Obituary

Ridgeley, WV – Betty Jane Taylor, 81, of Ridgeley, WV, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center.  Born August 23, 1939, in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Taylor was the daughter of the late William Abbott and Lula Blanche (Myers) Abbott.  She was also preceded in death by her grandson: Corey Taylor; her sister: JoAnn Llewellyn; her brother-in-law; Roy “Skip” Taylor; her former son-in-law; William Montgomery; and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Betty was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1957 and also graduated from Catherman’s Business School.  She was formerly employed at Montgomery Ward’s Credit Department and Roy Rogers in the Mall.  Betty was a life member of the Livingstone Church of the Brethren where she sang in the choir for over 20 years.  She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Nile, and the Ladies of the Shrine.  Betty loved to sing and enjoyed going to listen to her daughter’s band.  She enjoyed attending sporting events to watch her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Betty is survived by her husband of 57 years: George Taylor; her daughter: Angie Montgomery-Gillum and husband, Barry, also known as Kenny Chesney, as she would affectionately call him.  She also leaves behind her stepson: George Taylor, Jr.; her grandchildren: Zayne Montgomery and wife, Cayle; Aliyah Montgomery and fiancé, Tony Weems; and, Tyson Ross; and her great grandchildren: Cadence Taylor, Arabella Weems, Bexleigh Montgomery, Tristian Weems, Andrew Montgomery, and Renlee Weems.  Betty is also survived by her best friends: Eleanor Yost and husband, Harry; a special family member: Rachel Murray; her brother-in-law: Dave Llewellyn; her sisters-in-law: Barb Taylor and Joyce Ellsworth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Monday, April 12, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 1:00 P.M.  Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.  The family would like to give a special thank you to the Cumberland Covenant House for all the bonds that were built.  Also, to Allegany Health, Nursing, and Rehabilitation Center, especially, Tammy Isner-King, for all the care and compassion given to Betty.  Also, a special thank you to the neighbors, Jennifer and Jamie Shillingburg, for all the support and help over the years.
