Michael Scott Rayhill, 58, of Springfield, Missouri, passed peacefully at home on April 9, 2021. The future master of movie quotes was born on May 15, 1962, in Lincoln, Illinois, to parents Joe and Carolyn Rayhill. Mike is survived by siblings Becky Koza (brother-in-law Mark Koza), Mark Rayhill (sister-in-law Vickie Rayhill) and Ryan Rayhill. Nephews Cole Harvey (Jo Harvey), Ethan Rayhill and niece Lauren Shreffler (Alex Shreffler) were all sources of great happiness to their uncle. Mike was known for friendships that started as early as elementary school that would continue his entire life. Many fraternity brothers continued to be a valuable part of his life decades after graduation. Mike bonded with others over all things Judas Priest, art and playing guitar. His beloved Cardinals and KC Chiefs featured large in his life on game day. The greatest joy of Mike’s life was the birth of his son, London. His greatest happiness in life came from being a father. Brought together by a mutual obsession of The Big Lebowski, Mike married Angel (Evangelist) on August 15, 2020 and became stepdad to Holly and Kelly Lord. Mike was many things to many people: son, brother, uncle, father, husband, loyal friend, band mate, partner in crime, coach and teacher. He had tremendous creativity, vast musical knowledge, ability to perfectly grill a fillet of salmon and infinite kindness. He was an artist. He was beautiful. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of Mike’s life will be held in a reception at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 West Walnut Lawn Street, Springfield, MO, on Tuesday April 13th from 6-8 PM.
