Rita Sue Keen, age 68, of Castlewood, Va., passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. Born in Russell County, Va., on February 2, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Arlen and Mildred White Chafin. She was a retiree of People Inc. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thurman Weeks, Michael Chafin and Donald “Twink” Chafin.

Survivors include her children, Lisa Minton and husband Hank, Shannon Keen, Kevin Keen, Jennifer Keen, Julia Shortt and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Ashley Minton, Abigail Keen, Benjamin Keen Justus, Mason Keen, Isaac Shortt, and Addy Morgan; great-grandchildren, Letty Bush, Jaxson Keen and Jullian Keen; siblings, Brenda Tankersley, Ella Sutherland, John Salyer, and David Salyer; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who each were loved dearly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jess Powers, Don “Slick” and Nancy Osborne, Jeff Bush, Eddie Turner, Michael Rhea, David and Peggy Powers, Buddy and Mary Thomas, Ted Rasnake, Virgil Musick, and the pastors of the Russell County Ministerial Association.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2021, in the Phillips Family Cemetery in Castlewood with Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rosedale Baptist Church Go Fund Ministry, 352 Oakvale Ave., Rosedale, VA., 24280.
