Obituary

John “JD” DeMuth, age 70, of Cloquet, MN, formerly of Port Susan CC, on the Tulalip Indian Reservation, WA, went to meet his Lord on April 7, 2021 in Duluth, MN.

JD was born on February 22, 1951 in Torrence, CA to John and Alice DeMuth. It was in this area that he attended school and grew into a young man.  He enlisted in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam as a medic.  After his honorable discharge, he returned to California and worked as an emergency room technician in Marin County.  He joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, climbing to the rank of Journeyman lineman from which he retired in 2004.  In his later years, he moved to the Fond du Lac Reservation with his beloved wife Judy and his cat Princess, which he spoiled both daily until his death.

JD was a man of many interests.  He was an avid skier and worked as Ski Patrol in Lake Tahoe in his early years. He was a proud member of IBEW and ABATE of Renton.  He loved horses and owned his own ranch for several years.  He enjoyed being on the water and loved fishing for anything willing to bite.  JD was a motorcycle enthusiast, owning several Harleys throughout his life.  Above all, he loved his family and was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather anyone could ask for.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Judy (Welsand, DeFoe) of Fond du Lac Indian Reservation, two daughters: Z. Joni (Todd) Defoe of Marysville, WA  and Billie (Frederick) Robinson of Eau Claire, WI; grandchildren: Deja, Keira, Sophia, Aaliyjah, Beau and Tyrone; great-grandchildren:  Bryson, Brayden, Tyr and Faela; four brothers:  Larry, Bob, Terry and Jerry; lifelong best friend, Miguel “Mike” Ortiz of Texas; and his beloved cat, Princess.

JD was preceded in death by his parents; his aunt, Jeanne Fawcett and his cousin, David Fawcett.
