Peter Hilbert Peterson

Peter H. Peterson, age 87, passed away on April 7, 2021. He was born in Baldwin County, Alabama, August 17, 1933. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice Faye Peterson, his parents Frank Theodore and Annie Mae Peterson, his siblings Moody Peterson, John Peterson, McCoy Peterson, Otto Peterson, Annie Peterson Linholm, Sidney Peterson, and Emma Peterson Cagle, and daughter-in-law, Pam Peterson. He is survived by his son, David Peterson, daughter Rita Malone (Brian), step-daughter Tina Roice, four grandchildren, John Butler (Mandy), Hannah Moorhead (David), Haley Conchieri (Bryce), Tara Robinson, three great-grandsons, brother Willis “Brother Bill” Peterson (Joyce), sister Elizabeth Baggett, sister-in-law Sharon Dawson Stephens (David), and many nieces and nephews. We remember Peter as a loving son, brother, husband, uncle, father, father-in-law, the best Paw Paw Pete, and friend. He was a blessing to others and shared Christ’s love through his gentle, compassionate, and self-less character. He never met a stranger and was loved and treasured by many. He came to faith later in his life and was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. He loved attending Mr. John Kelley’s Sunday school class with his wife Faye. Peter proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hornet. Upon his return home, he began his career with Southern Bell/AT&T Company and was a faithful employee until his retirement at 30 years. Peter was an avid hunter and freshwater fisherman and knew the rivers and woods of Baldwin County very well. He grew up on a farm and later in his life began planting large gardens and crops for sale as a hobby, enjoying time outdoors plowing the fields on his tractor. He was a Shriner and made numerous trips with his wife by his side transporting children and their parents to the Shriners Hospitals in Tampa, FL, and Galveston, TX. He logged in close to 200,000 miles and made the trips until he was unable to do so. Funeral Services will be held at Faith Chapel North, Sunday, April 11th, at 2:00pm, with Pastor Jim Locke of Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm. Interment will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at 10:00am on Monday, April 12th. Honorary pallbearers are David Peterson, Brian Malone, John Butler, David Moorhead, Bryce Conchieri, Gary Dawson, Guy Chancey, Dennis Peterson, and Joel Linholm. Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff of Emerald Coast Hospice, Covenant Care Hospice, The Blake, and Baptist and West Florida Hospitals for their care and kindness to Mr. Peterson. We would also like to thank our family and friends for the outpouring of prayers and expressions of sympathy. We are grateful for each of you.
