Henry Blount Osborne, Jr.

Waynesville, Henry Blount Osborne, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at his home. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Dr. Henry Blount Osborne and Maude Nelson Osborne and was preceded in death by a son, Randall Osborne, who died in 2010 and two infant brothers. Blount served in the US Navy on the USS Floyds Bay as an electrician during the Korean Conflict and later retired from Dayco Inc. after 37 years of service. Blount enjoyed farming and being a member of the Ole Smoky Tractor Club. He was a member of East Waynesville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Blount is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Medford Osborne; a daughter, Jill Osborne, of Waynesville; two sisters, Ernestine Parton of Waynesville and Lou Anne Cogburn of the Cruso Community; two brothers, William and Massie Osborne (Joan) of Clyde; four grandchildren, Dr. Nicholas Osborne (Whitney), Catherine Parris (Jeff), Bradley Osborne and Will Osborne; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Koltan, Alyssa and another on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and many many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at East Waynesville Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Ferguson and Reverend Ray Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to East Waynesville Baptist Church, 175 Woodland Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
