Elias M. "Louie" Rigopoulos, age 91, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Rockville, Md. Elias was born in Piraeus, Greece in January 1930 and came to this country in August 1951. His first job in the United States after emigrating in 1951 was as the underbutler at the Embassy of Greece. He went on to work at the embassies of Saudi Arabia, Spain and Cambodia and at the Indian Information Service. After obtaining his barbering license he was co-owner of barber shops in Bethesda and Wheaton and spent 45 years as the owner of Rockville Barber Shop on Rockville Pike, retiring in 2017. He is the beloved husband of 60 years of Rosemary Rigopoulos; loving father of Andrew (and Mylinda) Rigopoulos, Nicholas Rigopoulos (and Susan Chamberlain), Maria (and Jonathan) Steinberg and the late Anthony Rigopoulos (and Susan Fliegler). He is proud grandfather of Eden Fliegler and devoted brother of George and Nikolas Rigopoulos (Socorro Rigopoulos) and Fotini Giardiakou. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Noreen Rigopoulos, Gina Palladino and Dina Rigopoulou, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 701 Norwood Road, Silver Spring, Maryland on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM. There is also an option to view the service via livestream on the church website at www.schgoc.org. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, Maryland.
