Gordonsville businessman, Mr. Jackie Pritchett Sr. age 71 of the Rome Community, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021, at the Quality Center for Rehab and Healing in Lebanon where he was admitted Thursday April 1st. He was recovering from Covid-19 which he suffered in December. Mr. Pritchett was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where a Celebration of Life was conducted Thursday afternoon April 8th. His sons, Jody Pritchett and Jay Pritchett and his grandson Hudson Montgomery delivered the eulogies at the 1 p.m. services and burial was beside his wife of almost forty six years in the Garden of Everlasting Life at the Smith County Memorial Gardens. The Smith County American Legion Riders conducted military graveside services. Born Jackie Doran Pritchett on November 25, 1949, he was a Watertown native, the youngest of six children and was the son of the late James Thomas (J. T.) Pritchett Sr. who died at the age of 66 on April 29, 1971 and Leona Davenport Pritchett who died at the age of 84 on July 22, 1989. A sister, Anna Belle Pritchett Mofield died October 20, 2011 at the age of 82 and a brother, James Thomas (Tommy) Pritchett Jr. who died September 9, 2018 at the age of 88. Mr. Pritchett was a 1967 graduate of Watertown High School where he was a member of the agriculture class and was on the Parliamentary Procedure team his sophomore year. At the South Carthage home of his sister-in-law, Janie Wright Ellenburg, he was united in marriage on May 17, 1974 to Rome Community native Sherry Lynn Wright who preceded him in death on February 26, 2020 at the age of 67 following a seven year battle with Myelofibrosis. The ceremony was performed by then Rome Church of Christ minister, Barry Keene. After leaving the Lux Time Division of Robertshaw Industries, for a time he was employed by the former Thurston Motor Lines and he then entered a partnership with The Pelletizing Company in Gordonsville where he was a co-owner for almost thirty three years. Mr. Pritchett proudly served our country with the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War and had total overseas service of one year and one month served in Korea as a field radio repairman, a task crucial in the battle against the Vietnamese. For his unselfish service he was honorably discharged at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on January 12, 1972 with the rank of Private 1st Class, making his total service two years, five months and twelve days. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Sharpshooter Badge with a Rifle Bar (M-16). Mr. Pritchett was baptized into Christ and was a member of the Rome Church of Christ. Surviving are his four children, Jody Pritchett of Columbia, Jay Pritchett of Seattle, Washington, Jenni Pritchett Montgomery and husband Kevin of Mount Juliet, Joy Ann Pritchett Baker and husband Curt of Lebanon; sister, Janette Pritchett Harris of Watertown; two brothers, Jerry Pritchett of Watertown, Kenneth Pritchett and wife Maxine of Mount Juliet,; five grandchildren, Marlee Montgomery, Hudson Montgomery, and Elsie Montgomery, Anniston Baker and Colt Baker. The family requests memorials to the Jordan Hackett Foundation.
