Thomas Eugene Dorsey, Sr.
Cresaptown, MD- Thomas Eugene Dorsey, Sr., 82, of Cresaptown, passed away peacefully, on April 3, 2021, at his home with his family by his side. Born April 30, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Gladys (Miller) Dorsey. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Jane Sites, Patsy Roberts; and his brother, Frank Miller. Thomas graduated from Beall High School, Class of ’56, and The Sergeant Majors Academy in 1989. As a Master Sargent he retired from the US Army after thirty plus years of service. He then worked for the State of MD as a maintenance engineer at the Brown Ave. Armory. He was a member of the East Gate 216 Scottish Rite 32⁰ of Freemasonry, Golden Age Eagle of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2883, Piney Mountain Sportsman Club, Cresaptown Sportsman Club, Fraternal Order of Police, American Legion Post # 0136, Goodfellowship Club, and the Big Savage Sportsman Club. Known as “Coach Pappy” he enjoyed coaching baseball, football and umpiring for the PVAA. He loved all of the kids like his own grandchildren. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Edith Dorsey; son Tom Dorsey, Jr. and wife, Jennifer; daughter, Keri Summerfield and husband, Daniel; grandchildren, David Summerfield and wife, Madison, Thomas Dorsey, III and fiancée, Morgan Yonker, Sarah Summerfield, and Matthew Dorsey; brothers, Bob Dorsey, John “Rick” Lashbaugh and wife, Deb; a sister, Billy; several beloved nieces and nephews. Per the family’s request, there will be no visitation at this time. There will be a “good old fashioned Irish wake” at a later date.
