<p>Hazel Louise Stewart, 98, of Sullivan, formerly of Kingman, IN, passed away Resurrection Day, Sunday April 4, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.&nbsp; She was born on January 13, 1923 in Mecca, Park County IN, to Oscar and Cleo (Gilman) Kelsheimer.&nbsp; Hazel graduated from Kingman High School in 1941, she worked at Turkey Run State Park as a waitress where she met&nbsp; and married her first husband. She also worked various places in Indianapolis over the years such as P.R. Mallory, U.S. Envelope Company and she retired from RCA in the late 1970&rsquo;s.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In 1942, Hazel married Leighton Marshall Britton Sr. in St. Louis MO., they had two children, Leighton Jr. and Joy Joann. Hazel later married Dale Stewart in Indianapolis. She enjoyed her widowhood and used her time to visit family, cook and babysit her great-grandchildren. Hazel enjoyed baking, working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Hazel loved to cook until her health declined, she enjoyed having all her family home for the holidays where she would cook abundant amounts of food. She was known for her deserts and family members were sent home with many Leftovers.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>In 2014, her son Leighton bought her a home in Sullivan so she could be closer to her daughter. In 2017 Hazel was baptized by Pastor David Cox and became a member of the Sullivan First Christian Church.</p> <p>Survivors include her two children Leighton M Britton Jr. (Lori) of Reelsville IN; Sanibel Island FL; St. Louis MO; and wherever his head lights, as he and Lori are avid travelers, and her daughter Joyce Joann (Mike) Knutti from Sullivan, IN (formerly of Kingman IN), grandchildren, Greg (Angie) Britton, Navarre FL, Darin Britton,&nbsp; Brazil, IN, Corey (Haley) Britton, Terre Haute, IN,&nbsp; Jodi Jean Carson, Homosassa, FL, Rebel (Julie) Snodgrass, Indianola, IA,&nbsp; great grandchildren, Christopher Brutton, Navarre FL, Grey Britton, Brazil,&nbsp; IN, William Swaim, Indianapolis, IN, Brianna (Shawn) Purple, Veedersburg, IN, Brittni (Chris) Billeter, Cayuga, IN, Trenten, Adalynn and Avory Covey Indianola, IA, and great- great grandchildren Lindsey and Leah Billeter, Cayuga, IN, Aubrey and Makayla Purple, Veedersburg, IN.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sisters, an infant brother and a beloved daughter-in-law Donna Sue Britton.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Per Hazel&rsquo;s wishes, there will be only private services. She will be&nbsp; buried at Memory Gardens in Rockville, Pastor David Cox officiated, services have been entrusted to Holmes Memorial</p> <p>chapel.
