Rosendo Barajas-Arceo

Rosendo Barajas Arceo passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2021 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family. His battle with metastatic cancer showed his courage in facing life's challenges with a smile and humor. Despite the pain, Rosendo fought like a hero and stayed strong until the very end. He was born on September 14th, 1951 in El Raicero, Jalisco, Mexico to Rosendo Barajas Ochoa and Maria Arceo Madrigal. At the tender age of 16, Rosendo decided to come to America. Being an immigrant with an American dream, Rosendo worked hard to achieve many goals. His journey began in California, where he started out as an agricultural worker. He then discovered his passion for cooking delicious Mexican cuisine for himself and others to enjoy. He was best known for his carnitas and birria. Having saved up enough money with his brothers, he was able to open up multiple restaurants throughout his life. Aside from being a great cook and food critic, he loved spending his time back home in La Maquina, Jalisco where he was able to start an avocado farm with his brother, Gonzalo, which gave him much pride and joy. Throughout his life, Rosendo’s character and sense of humor was contagious. His family and friends loved being in his presence and he was always known to be the life of the party. Rosendo is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juana Magana and his parents Rosendo Barajas Ochoa and Maria Arceo Madrigal. He is survived by his daughters Perla Barajas, Lisset Cruz, and son Jesus Barajas. He is also a grandfather to his grandson Ivan Cruz, granddaughter Erica Cruz, great granddaughter Mia Cruz, as well as many nieces and nephews.
