(Smith) Schafer in Keokuk, Iowa. Melvin was united in marriage to Linda Murch and to this union four children were born: Travis, Julia, Melvin Jr., and baby Schafer. Melvin and Linda were later divorced and Melvin was later united in marriage to Sheila Talkington.</p> <p>Melvin Schafer is survived by his wife: Sheila Schafer of Clarence, Missouri; one son: Travis Hawkinson of Quincy, Illinois; one daughter: Julia Cain of Iowa Falls; one sister: Fran Conger of Macon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Melvin Schafer is preceded in death by his parents; Benjamin and Elizabeth Schafer; one brother: Allen Schafer; one sister: Linda Neeson; two sons: Melvin Wesley Schafer Jr. and baby Schafer.</p>Obituary
