Carmen Ohern

Carmen Ohern, 54, of Holts Summit, passed away suddenly at Capital Region Medical Center on March 29, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1966 in Besigheim, Germany; a daughter of the late Gunter and Helga Etzel. She moved to the United States in 1987 and began a new life with her young family. For many years she worked as a TSA agent at Kansas City International airport, she was a welder and correction officer before starting a remodeling business with her husband, Jason. She enjoyed hiking, kayaking, swimming, and winning big at the casino. Most of all Carmen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her loving and caring spirit will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jason Ohern; daughter, Isabelle Taube (Tim); stepson, Parker Ohern; sister Isabella Kelley; grandchildren, Nicholas Kieffer, Annabelle Ohern and Iona Taube; and a host of other grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Carmen was preceded in death by her daughter, Jessica Brothers and husband of 20 years, Tom Marquis. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 6, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Family of Carmen Ohern.
