Carol J. Rardin

Carol Jean Rardin, 82, of Kansas, Illinois, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Palm Terrace in Mattoon, Illinois. She was retired after owning and operating the Beauty Nook beauty shop in Kansas for over fifteen years. She was born December 2, 1934, in Edgar County Illinois, the daughter of the late Homer and Alice (Wilson) Wilhoit. She married Harrold Dean Rardin on June 28, 1952, at Pleasant Hill Church and he survives. Other survivors include two sons, Doug Rardin of Kansas, Illinois, and Todd Rardin of Clay City, Indiana; a daughter, Cathy Manley of Charleston, Illinois; a sister, Brenda Justice of Kansas, Illinois; three grandchildren, Robert Dale Rardin of Tuscola, Illinois, Chase Alan Rardin of Norfolk, Virginia, and Deanna Marie (Gus) Camp of Terre Haute, Indiana; as well as five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Bardell. Mrs. Rardin was a member of the Kansas Christian Church and of the Kansas Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 774, where she was a Past Matron. SERVICE INFORMATION An Eastern Star Memorial Service was conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Templeton Funeral Home in Kansas, by Kansas O.E.S. Chapter #774. Funeral services followed, with Minister Bret Hammond officiating. Music was provided by Susan Farris, organist. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Casket bearers were Jeff Dole, Ed Rardin, Earl Scott, Cody and Mike Simpson, and Bruce Trefz. Honorary casket bearers were Jeff and Rob Rardin.
