Lily Jane "Mick" Cowan

Lily Jane (‘Mick') Cowan passed peacefully on August 13, 2012 in Chelsea, Oklahoma from complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. She was 85 years old. Mick was the daughter of Roy and Althea Woods. Born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on April 16, 1927, she moved with her family to Arkansas as a teenager. Mick graduated from Bentonville High School in 1945 and was a resident of Northwest Arkansas for over 70 years. After losing her first husband in the Korean War, she married the late W. Kenneth Cowan in 1959sharing 50 wonderful years with him until his passing in 2008. Mick worked at banks in Rogers and Fayetteville in the 1960's, eventually assuming a role managing the finances of Ken Cowan's Hatchery full time in 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church (now Cross Church) of Springdale, Order of the Eastern Star, and for the past forty years was active in the Foothills of the Ozarks Antique Auto Club. Mick was preceded in death by her father in 1972, mother in 1975,step-daughter Karen Lynn Cowan in 1996, her husband Kenneth in 2008, and brother Jack D. Woods in 2011. She is survived by her step-son David, M. Cowan, grandson Kevin B. Cowan, granddaughters Chancy K. Cowan and Samantha A. White, her sister-in-law Donna Jo Woods, nieces Jackie Jo Woods, Kathie Woods, and Belinda Flamm, and nephew Roy L. Woods. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 18th at the Benton County Memorial Park, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer&#39;s Research Foundation, Fisher Center, One Intrepid Square, W. 46th St. and 12th Ave, New York, NY 10036, or to the Humane Society of the United States in honor of Mick's love for animals.
